There are those who can’t see and those who don’t want to, but we’re all blind sometimes.
Ace is blind and Haze is damaged. They live in different worlds and not everyone is happy when they become boyfriends. Haze is struggling with the after effects of a traumatic event in his past that has left him at the mercy of an uncontrollable rage. When Ace’s brother steps up his campaign of torment against Ace, they’re all in danger from Haze’s outbursts, though it isn’t until things get completely out of control that the healing can really begin. But with Ace unseeing and Haze perched on the edge of a cliff, will either of them survive long enough to benefit?
The first time I saw him I thought I was seeing things. The light was slanting through a gap in the buildings opposite and glinting off the glass. For a moment as I looked up, and don’t ask me why I did—I just did, I saw a figure in the window right at the top of the house under the eaves.
I don’t know what it was about the figure that stirred me but there was just something… I blinked and it was gone. I almost missed the bus to school as I stood there staring at the now empty window.

There’s so much in this one tiny little snippet. I don’t think I have quite the right words, but I think the line about being stirred sums it up. It makes me want to know more.
Thanks 😀 If you check out the post on the Reviewer Roundup and my blogs you can read longer excerpts.
Very intriguing.
Thank you. I think that can pretty much sum up Ace himself 😀
Intriguing start — and the blurb really drew me in, too.
Thank you 😀 This was actually the first book where I consciously strived to not have too much darkness creep it. I tried my very best 😀 This book is definitely the one with least angst and more sweetness. Writing Ace was an education. I researched all kinds of this relating to blindness, from mobile phones to what is taught at specialist schools 😀
Love this first glimpse. Beautiful setup!
Thank you 😀 Haze will find that the boy behind the window is everything and nothing like he dreams him.
I absolutely love this book. Ace is such a beautiful soul 🙂
Thank you. I think so too 😀 This is the one book my teenage son loves so it must be special, although he does criticise the writing style in some places, saying it ready like and English Literature essay 😀
So many emotions – I felt them all. Well written.
Thank you 😀 It’s kind of an emotional book, although (I think) the emotions are gentle compared to the intense stuff I usually write.
The best impressions are always the ones you almost miss…
I agree 😀
