I’m continuing on with The Runaway. I’m very fond of this book, especially because a dear friend painted the cover image for me and I think it’s absolutely beautiful, just like sweet Ciarrai. By the way that’s pronounced Kee-a-ree
Ciarrai is running away from a past that’s still breathing down his neck. Jack has no past, his memory wiped in the accident that killed his parents. They meet and their lives move forward like stones skimming the surface of the water, dipping into memories that want to surface and those that want to lie buried forever.
I can be such a cruel beast at times, so I am going to leave it to your imagination to fill in what Ciarria does to Jack. If you want to find out, you can always buy the book.
I am also not going to tell you how Ciarrai terrifies Jack as he escorts him through the middle of town acting like a model on a cawalk, drawing attention from everyone, even the waiter in the fancy hotel he takes Jack too. Jack is highly nervous now, certain someone is going to recognize Ciarrai or realize he’s a man. Ciarrai has no such worries and continues to tease Jack unmercifully
“Do you, Jack? Do you think I’m beautiful?” He leaned across the table, licking his lips. There was a candle on the table, its soft light reflecting off the windowpane. Outside, darkness was falling and it closed them into a flickering cocoon, where it was easy to believe only the two of them existed.
Jack drew back, suddenly scared. His heart raced and his mouth went dry. Dear God, this creature was a monster.
