Blurb: Silver and River are healing, but both are still struggling to reconcile Silver’s life before his time at the Theatre De La Vie, with after. It doesn’t help that Ariel keeps coming around and causing trouble. When he encourages Silver to collect Ben from school he unleashes a can of worms that could easily have had fatal consequences.
In this snippet, River is talking to Sam.
“Does this mean you’re okay with Ariel now?”
“I don’t know if ‘okay’ is exactly the right word. He scares the hell out of me.”
“You and me both. Is he like that all the time?”
“No.”
“That’s a relief.”
“Sometimes he’s worse.”

A LOT of people utter that phrase whenever Ariel is around – even me. I never know quite what to expect and he often goes off on a tangent.

Somehow I don’t think that was very reassuring!
River has a difficult relationship with Ariel. Until now he hasn’t been able to speak about him without spitting nails. I don’t think Sam takes River’s comment too seriously because he’s well aware of the situation and is happy River as anything good to say at all.
Oh, man. I don’t know what all “worse” entails, but that does not sound good at all.
Ah bless. I wouldn’t say “not good”. Ariel’s a sweetheart, but he is…erm…hard work 😀

Very much like Ariel really. Ariel is a whole lot of personality stuffed into a small body. In some ways he’s ancient but in so many others he’s never really grown up
