The snippet comes from my latest release Enigma III – Friends and Family
Blurb: Silver and River are healing, but both are still struggling to reconcile Silver’s life before his time at the Theatre De La Vie, with after. It doesn’t help that Ariel keeps coming around and causing trouble. When he encourages Silver to collect Ben from school he unleashes a can of worms that could easily have had fatal consequences.
Silver has come across a bad case of homophobia by a stranger at the railway station. It’s upset him and made him fearful again.
I look up startled as Ariel slams a glass down on the table in front of me, and then another. “Stop what? What’s this?”
“Stop thinking what you’re thinking and drink.”
“How do you know what I’m thinking? Drink what?”
“I can tell from your face what you’re thinking. You have the same look as you did the day we took you shopping, before Asher talked some sense into you. You are not going to let that homophobic cunt put you back in chains. Oh, the drink is vodka and coke.”

Not sure Ariel’s methods are ideal here. Great snippet.
Ariel’s methods are always about as subtle as a brick! He drives River nuts. He gets into trouble more than anyone I’ve ever written, but he’s adorable so he usually manages to get out of it easily enough. He’s also wise beyond his years and as unsubtle as his methods are they usually seem to work well enough
Ariel has some good points and questionable methods.
Hehe. Ariel has a LOT of good points but yes, he absolutely does have questionable methods. Questionable methods, morals, dress style and sometimes sanity :D, but I love him sooo much
No sense beating around the bush! And I’d definitely feel better for a vodka and coke. 😉
Ariel world behind a bar (and in front of the bar on the stage, and upstairs in the visitors’ rooms) so he knows all about the curative value of alcohol. Whisky is my preferred tipple but clearly Ariel favours vodka for shock.
I like Ariel. I hope SIlver will be okay.
Ariel’s an absolute darling, and Silver will be fine. It’s something we all have to come to terms with – that there are haters out there
I like the ‘Oh, vodka and coke’ afterthought. 😀
Ariel’s a feisty one. He’s a good friend and he’s watched Silver go to hell and back. He’s simply not prepared to let that happen again and he’s going to do everything he can, in his own inimitable way, to stop it. This is bearing in mind that Ariel is tiny and looks like a fourteen-year-old dressed up for Halloween 😀
lol vodka and coke, if tat won’t cure what ails you, nothing will
Silver’s not supposed to drink but, hell, after a shock you can’t beat a good stiff drink. Well, you can, but not in public. Not that Ariel has any shame but at the moment Silver is terrified of being beaten up just for looking at Ariel
At least he knows if he wants some straight talk he can always turn to Ariel! <3
OMG yes. Ariel is all about straight talking. It’s the only thing about him that is straight, mind 😀
Some things are hard to get over. Friends help, though.
Oh absolutely and Silver has the best friends. But he also has a lot to get over
Love Ariel. And the way he tossed in the answer to “Drink what” was awesome.
I love Ariel, too. This book is a lot more about him, because he just wouldn’t shut up. From a very much peripheral character he’s wormed his way up to being very much a peripheral character he’s wormed his way in to become a pivotal one, especially in this book
Well, Ariel is not subtle, is he? Sometimes that’s just what’s needed though…
